The True Priests of the gods perform magic in a very unique way. Rather than using spells or manipulating the elements around them the True Priests of Amsteil call upon the intervention of their patron deity. Through prayer and piety the priests earn the favor of their god and the gods show their favor by performing tasks at the request of their priests. The more favor a priest holds, the more often and the larger the tasks the god is willing to perform for him or her. The process of asking for a miracle is significantly simpler than the process for truly casting a spell. A True Priest does not have to gather, shape, or release the manna himself. Instead, the priest must simply pray for divine action and, assuming he holds enough favor with his or her patron, the god will act. However, miracles are not free. Once performed, the priest’s patron will take from his or her body an amount of manna that the god deems appropriate for its services. When a god takes manna from a human body it is an excruciating ordeal. As stated earlier, manna does not wish to leave the body quickly, even less so does it wish to be forcibly taken by an outside power. True Priests believe that the art of miracle working is the hardest to master because it requires fortitude of both body and mind and because it requires the manipulation of the gods’ wild passions.
